Thursday Thirteen. Why not? I haven't done it for so long

1. Diving is hard. I had a minor panic attack during my first dive for ten years and had to go back to the boat in a mess. Fortunately the next dive was fine, so we went out for another day, and that was fabulous. 2. The Egyptians were building things that have lasted for four thousand years. This is beyond remarkable, especially when you thing that iron hadn't been discovered when the majority of the temples, tombds and pyramids were built. I wonder if anything we've built will last for that length of time. 3. When tourism is so important to a country that the locals aren't allowed on the road at the same time as the tourist buses driving in convoy from Luxor to El Gouna, that country is in serious trouble economically. 4. Water aerobics in the heat of the midday sun is a bad idea. Especially when you are wearing a halterneck bikini and are larger than a B cup. 5. Cairo is horrible and the Cairo museum, while fabulously full of stuff, is so badly organised and air conditioned that it is a trial rather than a pleasure. 6. Egyptair stewards aren't very good at controlling passengers - when we came back from Egypt and were landing, people were wandering around, using the loos and as soon as we stopped, and before the seatbelt light had gone out, people were grabbing their bags and preparing to leave. 7. That said, it was the smoothest landing ever. I didn't even realise we had landed. 8. People will try to sell you anything and they don't listen when you tell them to bugger off. 9. If you want to sell necklaces and postcards to tourists, you need to have some very adorable, shy and beautiful children. You will make a fortune. 10. Feluccas are the way to travel, they are so relaxing. 11. English people are rubbish. We went to Kitchener's Island in Aswan which is over-run by cats, and one of the women asked the guide "Who feeds the cats? What do they eat?" GYAC the island is full of BIRDS and RATS and MICE and if they can't catch those, they don't eat. *pulls face* 12. Clown fish are lovely. Lion fish look very scarey and poisonous. 13. Egypt is great, you should go. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! 1. (leave your link in comments, I’ll add you here!) |
